  • 03:34 Lyrics Elemental Love

    Lift up your children

    Send down your light

A dancing fire, to warm the night

    Your arms extending

    To reach our souls

Father Sun, May you glow glow glow

    Reach up your branches

    Send down your roots

    Firmly planted, for bearing fruit

    Upon high places

    And down below

Mother Earth, May you grow, grow, grow

    Revive the thirsty

    By sending rain

Your coursing rivers, our mothers veins

    Reflecting beauty

    From places low

Sister Water, May you flow flow flow

    Sweep up our troubles

    Expand our minds

Your howls and whispers, the voice of life

    A tree sonata

    Your breath bestows

Brother Wind, May you blow blow blow

    My music makers

    Lift up your voice

    Sing Hallelujah, let us rejoice

    It’s one big chorus

    We’re all part of

As one big Family, Let us love love love

  • 03:39 Lyrics Seasons

The sun will rise in your hazel eyes

And mine will set til’ I’m gone again

I guess we’ll have to meet above the sky

    Where’d you come from?

    Where did I go?

I hate to think that we’re both alone

I guess we’ll have to meet up in a song

    Lady please, imagine me

On our knees, we refuse to give into the silence

    Let it ring, the melody

As it rests in out chests to possess our

    Heartbeats

I want to know how to know for two

    Reach myself, to reach you

Be the rain to fertilize the Bloom

But the farmers all cry out to me

“too much rain will kill the seed,

Sing your pretty song and let it be.”

Let it be, let it be

Oh, aiming to find seasons on my own

But falling into winter is so damn cold

    And reasons fade with seasons

As I find your warmth waiting in the snow

    And reasons fade with seasons

But hearts they keep on beating

As I find your warmth waiting in the snow

  • 04:06 Lyrics The Carpenter

Her daddy is a building man

He built her up a feeding top

Log by log, he stacked them tall

Her daddy is a building man

Built her up a dreaming bed

Stone by stone, a girl’s small throne

His body made weak for the bread that she eats

The sweat on his brow laid her yellow head down

    Her daddy is a shelterer

He made her walls of freedom

Brick by brick, he laid them thick

    Her daddy is a shelterer

    Made her up a fireplace

Rock by rock, her warmth was wrought

His back brazen brown by the sun coming down

Her heat in command by the work of his hands

    Her daddy is a carpenter

Stacks his ladder to the sky

Rung by rung, he climbs back up

    Her daddy is a carpenter

    Just like the Holy One

High above he, looks so lovely

With hammer in hand he tells her his plan

“I’ll work all my days so my children can play

And never complain of my labor or pain

I’ll give of my skin so my family can live ”

  • 03:45 Lyrics Lloramos

  • 03:24 Lyrics Bailamos!

    I fell into your song

Your heart it was the drum

And as I tapped my feet, I felt into your beat

    And could not retreat

    Puedas acompanarme?

    El ritmo siente suave.

Cada moviemiento, esta en tiempo perfect

    Nuestro crecimiento

Let us dance, let us dance

    Twirling faster into sweet romance

We may fall but we can take a chance

Let us dance, let us dance

The luck of you and me

Meeting up in just a blink of all eternity

Our partnership molding, our journey’s unfolding

    Becoming free

    Los caminos son dificiles

Pero la musica nos haremos felices

The silence becomes, a melody of love

    Paso a paso y nota a nota

    Encontramos la belleza

    De la danza

    Bailamos, bailamos!

    Sigueremos girando

    Cayendo y volando

  • 04:15 Lyrics Dear Stranger

Sing me to silence, can I listen for free?

I’m just dying to leave all these thoughts that hold me.

I’d rather be held by your sweet melody

Than a mind that’s uneasy and a spirit unfree.

I’ve got a bottle of wine, and plenty of time.

Can you tell me your troubles? Will you listen to mine?

We’ll dance til the morning with nothing to mind

‘cept moonlit reflections in a sweet Stranger’s eyes

Too many words, and they’ll fail me I’m sure.

What I’d like to relay surely language ignores

To put it quite simply, I’m already yours

So be here beside me, I could want nothing more.

Dear Stranger I love you, and I come unafraid

Climbing into your bed, not my head for a change

Leaving all thoughts and worries for a Stranger’s soft gaze

And the silence can take us ‘til we forget our own names

The Silence it grows as our bodies entwine

Breathing and heartbeats in words won’t confide

But give them the silence and they’ll shout for the sky

Reason at rest, as our Spirit arrives

Sing me to silence, can I listen for free?

I’m just dying to leave all these thoughts that hold me.

I’d rather be held by your sweet melody.

  • 03:31 Lyrics Desire

The devil draws near, please come here, child

He’ll tempt ‘til redemption is dead

Of finery and riches he’ll speak

The glory will make you feel weak

He’ll sing of a song made from gold,

And all it’ll cost is your soul

The temptress is here, please draw near, child

She’ll trick your convictions away, please be brave

She’ll paint you a picture that glows

Stroke by stroke, the splendor grows

Of beauty and bounty she’ll rave

The wonder will start to enslave

The mouth of the world beckons on, child, please be strong child

And all is consumed but not you child, please be true child

And love ‘til the world is spun to gold

From riches within the human soul

And paint of a picture from blood

The joy, that causes your heart to flood

The mouth of the world beckons on child, please be strong child

And all is consumed but not you child

  • 04:20 Lyrics Pretty in White

Pretty in white, pretty in white

Pretty in white as snow, white as snow

Easy as pie, easy as pie

Easy as pie that fills, pie that fills

Happy as songs of youth, songs of truth

    Seasons were changing

    Hearts ripe for taking

    Roots that were shaking

    Children we’d outgrown

    A past that could strangle

    We try to untangle

    To find a new angle

    For seeds newly sewn

Words that bite, words that bite

Words that bite as cold, bite as cold

Stubborn as stone, stubborn as stone

Stubborn as stones that walk, stones that talk

Hearts that break into, me and you

    Old expectations

    Deep revelations

    The coming of ages

    A new letting go

    The friendship of blue sky

    Transformed in the sunrise

    Taking her sweet time

    To open and grow

Fragile as time reveals how to heal

Hearts that change and grow, where?, I don’t know

Pretty in white as snow white as snow

  • 05:03 Lyrics For Ira

In her eyes, there you can fly

From places low, she takes you high

She holds the sky within her eyes

    So you can fly

In her bones you have a home

    A well-made shelter all homegrown

Take your throne within her bones

    You have a home

“My body lies dead by the bank

My eyes closed, my bones know no strength.

The stars will be my sight, I’ll dwell within the caves

Waiting there to greet you, if you’d only call my name”

In her chest please take a rest

For weary minds she’s made a nest

She’d love to have you in her chest

    Please take a rest

Through her blood the love does flood

    An overflow of human hood

Take a dive into her blood

    The love will flood

“My heart fell apart in his hands.

He squeezed me ‘til all blood was shed.

Now thunder holds my beat, the rivers are my veins,

Long enough to reach you if you swear to keep my face.”

“You can know me better than I ever knew myself”

In her breath there is no death

For only life can wind express

Join the trees and let us dance

    There is no death

In her song we all belong

    Ira’s voice does carry on

In the silence of her song, we all belong

“My voice has been slaughtered in vein.

My song and my beauty remain.

    Who can slay the rain?”

He took her youth, he could not take her truth

“He took my youth, he could not take my truth”

  • 05:31 Lyrics The Lines Between

You were the one to sail upon the deepest blue

And you were the one to wax and wane the yellow moon

You were the one to set the sun to sleep, with your own eyes (with your own eyes)

So take this flower from my hand,

Look around and you’ll find all there is to understand

Mountains, water dancing, shadows in the night awakened by

    Your own mind

The line between sun and sight

The line between moon and mind

The line between world and I

Loose at the seams, the more that I try

To find myself out, I find it inside

So we sung each other songs and dreamed up every dream

While lying still we entered into everything

We etched into our skin a poem as old as human kind

    As old as time

So take my hand into your hand

Come inside me and feel all there is to understand

Beating hearts and tender words can conquer death

    Life begins, against your skin

The line between one and two

The point between points of view

The line between me and you

Loose at the seams, the more that I try

To find myself out, I find you inside

Beautiful lover, how may I serve thee?

The strength of my own heart, lies right here beside me.

The line between fact and felt

    Line between God and Self

Doesn’t exist as far as I can tell

The line between song and ear

In fact is made far from clear

Why would I sing if you don’t hear

In fact we are One, the boundaries are None.

NOTES
"There is so much I love about Taylor's songs! In no special order - the melodies go straight to my heart and gut, and lift me up and open. I love the way her voice cracks and then smooths, the way it is unabashedly real and not perfectly trained but still hits every note right on. The way the guitar notes weave around, leaving plenty of silence and space between the music.
I love the lyrics, the way she melds the transcendent with the mundane, the spiritual with the physical, nature with our human reality. Just when I think it's a simple love song, the story opens up to the oneness of everything! I just love that! It's clear where her priorities are, and they so perfectly agree with mine that I could mark every line.....I love how she blends the natural human need for love and contact with each other, and the spirit's need to go beyond this to merge with the All." -Amy Lifton
